What We Found

The Situation

When we inspected the attic, we found dark mold covering the wooden roof sheathing and rafters. The wood was heavily stained with black and brown discoloration from long-term moisture buildup. There was no exhaust fan to move hot, humid air out of the attic, which let mold take hold over time. Fiberglass insulation between the joists was also affected. Down in the basement, we found more mold growing on the walls and exposed joists. We set up containment with plastic sheeting to seal off work areas and used a HEPA air scrubber connected to a vent hose to filter the air. We also used wire brushes to scrub mold from the concrete block walls during treatment.
